At Global Family Support (GFS), we're a community of animal lovers who believe that pets are family, and every family deserves the joy and companionship they bring. But thousands of homeless animals enter shelters each year, a stark reminder of the pet overpopulation crisis. Our mission is to change that. 😊
Why "Spay It Forward" is the Solution:
Spaying and neutering are the most effective ways to combat pet homelessness and ensure every animal companion has a chance to find a loving home. But for many families, the cost of veterinary care for these essential surgeries can be a barrier.
That's why we've partnered with the animal shelter Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) to support their "Spay It Forward" program, providing FREE spay and neuter surgeries, along with rabies vaccinations and valuable educational resources, to pets of low-income families. We believe that access to medical care shouldn't be a privilege, but a right for all animal companions.

Dispelling the Myths: The Truth About Spaying and Neutering
It's time to separate fact from fiction! There are many misconceptions surrounding spaying and neutering, but the truth is that these procedures offer numerous benefits for your pet, your family, and your community.
🚩 Myth #1: Spaying or neutering will change my pet's personality.
Fact: Spaying or neutering does not change your pet's personality. It simply reduces certain hormone-driven behaviors, like roaming, aggression, and marking territory. Your pet will still be the same loving companion, just with a few less unwanted behaviors.
🚩 Myth #2: My pet needs to have a litter before being spayed or neutered.
Fact: There is no medical benefit to letting your pet have a litter before being spayed or neutered. In fact, early spaying or neutering can help prevent certain health problems, like mammary cancer and testicular cancer.
🚩 Myth #3: Spaying or neutering is dangerous and expensive.
Fact: Spaying and neutering are common, safe procedures with a very low complication rate. The cost of these surgeries is far less than the cost of caring for an unwanted litter. Plus, through programs like "Spay It Forward," qualifying families can access these services for free.
🚩 Myth #4: Spaying or neutering will make my pet gain weight.
Fact: Weight gain is caused by overfeeding and lack of exercise, not spaying or neutering. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, your pet can maintain a healthy weight after surgery.
The Truth:
✅ Spaying or neutering can help your pet live a longer, healthier life.
✅ It can reduce unwanted behaviors and make your pet a better companion.
✅ It's a safe and effective way to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of homeless animals and shelter pets in our community.
